For a while now I’ve been meaning to jazz up my photo blog with something super simple and after seeing such fine examples as Kristian Hjelle’s Everyday Photos, Rafik Salama’s blog and Netta Marshall’s Captures the time had indeed come.
Head over to lkbrd.tumblr.com (witty domain name forthcoming) to see the results.
The initial idea was more a proof of concept on how well I could get -webkit-filter: blur to perform with some big images in a responsive surrounding. After a little bit of playing around I digged the result enough and threw it into Tumblr.
I spent 0 time in Photoshop during all of this, refreshing to say the least.
Strangely enough playing around with the type took longer than getting the layout together. Both fonts (Montserrat & Bitter) are available on google fonts. Things that need work are:
Loads times and performance, both are pretty terrible
Fix it for Firefox and anything that is not webkit (sorry @_dte)
Add some gesture support for pagination on iOS (bite me android)
Some basic Tumblr fluff (notes etc)
Add fancy about section
If enough people are interested I could fix this theme up from the hacky mess it is right now and release it. Tweet at me if you would like that.
